A squeaky clean car is a good thing!

I’m one of those people who eats fast food in the car — there, I said it. So sue me. But I have to admit that it contributes to a rather untidy interior if you don’t keep up with the spills and crumbs. So today, as part of my getting-myself-ready-for-TNNA-by-doing-feel-good-things plan, I got my car detailed. The carpets were shampooed, the cupholders cleaned out, all the general nastiness removed, etc. And it was worth it, because when I got back in my car I (almost) swore I’d never eat in it again. Unfortunately, the detailing place had taken 2 hours to get me out of there and I was starving…..yep, I went straight to Subway. Now I know I could’ve eaten my sandwich in the restaurant (interesting concept…hmmm), but no, I had to do it. I sat in my car, hunched over my paper sandwich wrapper, determined not to drop a single crumb in the car. I was successful this time, but this definitely does not bode well for my chances of keeping the car clean for long! All it takes is one too-full latte and a bump in the road and it’ll all be a distant memory.

I used to be such an organized and, well, CLEAN, person. What ever happened to that?!

Oh, and speaking of cars, I drive a 2003 Honda CR-V and I’ve been reading rumors that Honda is FINALLY coming out with a hybrid CR-V for the 2009 model year. I love, love, love my CR-V (this is my second one — first one was in 1999), and even though it gets decent gas mileage, I’ve been feeling the urge to get a hybrid. If we didn’t live somewhere with such bad gravel road maintenance, I might have already switched to a Prius, but I’m sure a Prius would not fare well on my road. (It could probably get swallowed up by the potholes.) So if Honda really DOES make a hybrid CR-V, it’ll be the answer to my (auto-related) dreams. I’ll be stalking the Honda website from now on, ready to pounce!
