Endless socks are done…whew!
Several months ago Eric stopped being subtle with his hints about wanting a pair of handknit socks. I guess he was tired of watching me knit them for everyone else. I had no problem with the idea, but the trouble was that I KNEW he wouldn’t wear socks made in any of the awesome self-patterning yarns that are so fun to make. He needed a solid (boring) color. So I got some black yarn (Dale Baby Ull) and measured his foot and got started. This must have been at least 3 months ago, seriously. I’ve been so absolutely bored by knitting these things that I kept putting them down in favor of more interesting projects. But when I ran out of yarn near the end of the first sock (I had one ball for each sock), I went stash diving and came up with a green that I could use for the toe. That added a little more interest for me, allowing me to get past the hump of casting on the second sock and doing the miles of ribbing. And ta-daa! What do you think? He loves them and I love that they’re FINISHED!!
(P.S. to Tam — No, those aren’t MY hairy legs, they’re Eric’s!)
After grafting the toe of his second sock, I immediately cast on for a pair of socks for ME ME ME…and my first toe-up socks.
