If you’re keeping track…yes Jane, I mean you!

When we last saw the argyle sock, it was a jumble of loose ends wrapped up with some bad karma.  Well, look at it now:

Argyle_sock_almost_done_only_toe_remainsKeep in mind that it’s not yet blocked….I just have to Kitchener the toe and weave in a few more ends on the inside and it’ll be ready to go.  I used worsted weight wool, which I’d normally never use for a sock, so that’s why it looks abnormally big.  But it meets the TKGA Master Knitter requirements, so that’s all that matters, right?

I hope to finish the sock tonight and move on to the last several swatches that I need to do.  This week is going to be tough because I’m also on deadline with an indexing project (I’m indexing a book on buying/selling condominiums….I’d MUCH rather be knitting, believe me!).

Oh, before I go for today, take a gander at what I’m finally learning:

Magic_loop_socks_my_first Yes, believe it or not, I’ve finally succumbed to the Magic Loop method of doing two socks on one circular needle.  Trish does ALL of her socks this way and has been (unknowingly) taunting me every Thursday night at our knitting group, making me feel somehow inferior because I was still doing socks on double-pointed needles.  I think this way is really neat, but for some reason I feel like I’m cheating or something.  There’s something about using dp’s that makes me feel more connected to our knitting ancestors, ya know?   So I don’t know if I’ll be totally converted to the Magic Loop or if I’ll end up using both methods alternately.  Stay tuned folks.

    Kim,
Your sock looks excellent. I’m sure you’ll pass with that one. Congratulations with weaving in your ends.

  2. Diane Says:

Hi Kim, this is Trish’s sister, Diane. I feel exactly the same way about Magic Loop. I may use the method now & then–it’s certainly nice to avoid ’second sock syndrome’, but I still feel like I get a better result with dpns. Don’t let Trish intimidate you! Knit however you want :-)

  3. Trish Says:

Hey! If you gals (and I love you both, really!) want to continue to knit with porcupines in your hands, go for it! It’s not for me! LOL We all have our likes and dislikes….don’t put DPNS in my hands…I’m Magic Loopin’ all the way, baby!

  4. Trish Says:

ps…I never meant to intimidate you or make you feel inferior, dear Kim…sniff….just thought I’d pass along the method…if you don’t think it’s better, that’s your choice! :-)

  5. Kim Says:

Oh, Trishie, I think it’s BETTER alright, no doubt about that!

As for my self-esteem issues, well, that’s another matter altogether — LOL!
