Aaaaargh-yle sock

Ok, I take it back: the argyle sock is not fun!  Not in any way, shape or form!  I hate it.  Not only do I hate the intarsia technique, but I don’t like the yarn I chose for it either.  I’ve finished the argyle part and am now on the easy part of the foot, but haven’t finished weaving in all the zillions of yarn ends.  Although, now that I think about it, I did learn something useful from this project — the cushion stitch heel.  It’s basically the same as the normal heel flap, which is (sl 1, k1) across the RS rows.  The cushion stitch alternates which stitches are slipped, so that it is a more "cushiony" fabric than the normal heel flap, which tends to have vertical ridges on it.  Looks pretty cool too.  Pics later — I seem to be saying "pics later" in every post lately.  The camera is never handy when I decide to write a post here.  Hmmm, I guess I might have to THINK AHEAD next time, right?  Gosh, how hard is it to bring the camera with me when I come to the ‘puter?  Well, obviously I’m not managing to do it, so there’s our answer, kids.

I’ve put the sock down for a few days to finish up the Head Start charity sweater that I have to turn in at next Monday’s guild meeting.  I wish I had been able to make more than one sweater for them this year.  But our guild is considering making stuff for the hurricane survivors who are up here in Michigan for a cold winter that they won’t be prepared for.  I hope we get that organized so we can really make a difference for those people.

    Kim,
I knitted up two socks since my first one liked like hell. If I was the evaluator, I won’t have passed me. I think it’s easier to do duplicate stitch than intarsia for the vertical stripe. Just my opinion.

I learned the cushion stitch heel, too and enjoyed doing it instead of the boring one of *sl 1, knit, rep from * across row. : )!!

    Have a good day.
