Now my NIECE is knitting too!
I can’t believe it! Debbie said her almost-15-year-old daughter, my niece Amy, wanted to learn to knit too. So Debbie taught her as best she could remember (from her brief lesson while she was visiting me last week) and Amy just took off!
Here’s a picture of what she’s done so far:
She bravely worked past the hole on the left edge, saying she could just stitch it closed when she’s done. At this point she’s not sure what she’s making though….I think she just likes the process of knitting (which is the best kind of knitter, I think!).
Click on the second picture to see a larger version of it, and take a real good look at her needles. What do you see? I taught Deb on circular needles last week, but when I saw this photo I thought Amy was knitting on straights with flexible cord tips. Nope, turns out they started out as circular needles but the cord was bugging her so SHE CUT IT in the middle! Definitely a fearless knitter in the making, right? Oh to be young again…..
