Somebody stop me!

Yesterday I finally made it to Heritage Spinning and Weaving in Lake Orion — what a great shop!!  As soon as I walked in I was greeted pleasantly and given a very thorough tour of the shop by a very friendly employee (Hi, Su!).  Su even introduced me to the other employee and a couple customers who were there knitting.  This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had in any yarn shop!  They have wonderful yarns and a cozy, welcoming store.  I know I ‘ll be back to visit them many times.

So, you’re probably wondering what I got from Heritage to feed my obsession.  Well, I was surprisingly under control, but I got a couple hanks of their own gorgeous Handpaint wool/mohair sock yarn.  I plan to use this for my airplane knitting next week (hubby and I are going to Savannah to escape the dreaded Michigan winter for a few days).  Here are a couple pictures of the handpainted yarn — isn’t it gorgeous?

I also got 4 skeins of Noro Kureyon, which I’ve never had before but have been wanting to try.  I’ll probably make another felted purse — big surprise, right?  I’m still amazed at the reaction my Lamb’s Pride felted purse gets everywhere — yesterday the girls at Heritage Spinning were admiring it, and earlier in the day the girls at my hair salon passed it around too.  I should make a few extras and keep them in my car at all times — maybe I can sell some!  It’s tempting, but would definitely not be a profitable venture — after adding the price of the yarn, trimmings, and my time felting and sewing it, I’d never be able to get enough for them.  But it sure feels good to have people admire something I made.

Ok, what else did I buy yesterday?  Oh yeah, some Eucalan wool wash, which has been surprisingly difficult to locate around here.  I was almost ready to order it online….   I also got a skein of Cascade 220 to play around with, and an extra set of #2 circular needles.  My other set of #2s are tied up in the christening gown right now…you’d think I’d have that done by now, wouldn’t you?  But I’m still plugging away at it, trying not to be distracted by smaller, instant-gratification projects.  It’s HARD!
